GBL 251 WORLD WAR II IN EUROPE: DAILY LIFE IN A TIME OF WAR
This interdisciplinary course is designed to enable students to come to a better understanding of the era of WWII by looking at the experiences of ordinary people, both soldiers and civilians. Course content will focus on the invasion of Normandy in France, Germany under Hitler, and the occupied Czech Republic. Of particular interest is the effect of the war on ordinary people, how it shaped people's lives in a variety of places in Europe, and how individuals responded to it. Readings and the places to be visited will inform this focus and student learning in this course. Application and acceptance required. Additional travel fee is required. Counts toward Civilization requirement, and satisfies one unit of experiential learning toward fulfillment of the Experiential Learning Requirement. Counts toward German Studies minor. No credit for students who have completed HST 257.
