POL 1501 Introduction to World Politics

This is an introductory course to the political science subfield of international relations (IR). Students learn about the different theories of IR, realism, liberalism, Marxism, constructivism, and feminism, in order to analyze various global political economy and security issues. The course starts out with a brief review of history, and relevant methodologies for the study of the modern world system, its institutions, as well as individual, group, and state behavior. Students learn application of theory to practice through various activities.
