ART 3119 Art Fundamentals: Concept to Creation
This course addresses what the arts teach- from concept to creation, and why they are a vital part of our individual and collective educational development. Students engage in college-level art projects and partner with elementary students from a Title I school on art projects. Learning art skills and knowledge "hands-on" through teaching and collaboration, students experience personal growth as a creative, teacher, advocate, and mentor. Through service-learning activities students reflect on the critical role the arts play in providing a robust, democratic, educational experience, as well as larger issues involving educational equity and the arts. This course only satisfies the CORE requirement when offered as a service learning course.
