ARTH 3108 Renaissance and Renaissances in the Global World

Course focuses on the concept and creation of "renaissances" in art, history, literature, religion, and philosophy from the past to the present. The arts of the "Italian" and "Northern" Renaissances in 16th century Europe, and the renaissance of arts of diverse Asian cultures within diverse cultural/social frameworks. Course investigates the concept of a "renaissance" – and the social/political agendas this designation represents.
