CHEM 1411. GENERAL INORGANIC CHEMISTRY I (3-3-4) First semester of freshman chemistry for students in science, engineering, or medicine. An introduction to the principles of chemistry, including the study of metals, nonmetals, compounds, chemical formulas and equations, stoichiometry, gas laws, atomic structure, chemical bonding, thermochemistry, periodic properties and trends and the electrolytic behavior of solutions. Laboratory emphasis on the quantitative approach. Prerequisite: Concurrent enrollment or credit in MATH 1314 or equivalent. Assessment Levels: R3, E3, M3. 40.0501
