Pharmacy Technology, Diploma- PT22

Pharmacology is one of the principal pillars of modern medical practice, and your expertise in that area will place you at the heart of modern medicine. Your areas of expertise will include pharmaceutical calculations, sterile medication preparation, medical dispensing, medical terminology, and knowledge of medication interactions. Your computer skills will enable you to keep the accurate records necessary for quality patient health. The clinical practicums you experience will provide you the opportunity to study and practice your craft, while working side-by-side with and learning from practicing medical professionals. Your diploma will enable you to work at a trauma center, a hospital, or an assisted-living community. Your skill will also be in demand in the retail world, whether it is in an individual drugstore or a retail chain pharmacy.

All pre-requisite courses Noted with an asterisk * and occupational courses for the Degree and Diploma program must be successfully completed with a grade of C or better before registering for any PHAR courses and, to continue in the path for graduation.  In the last semester all students are required to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam “PTCB-Exam. The pass or fail of the PTCB-Exam is not a determining factor for graduating.

Students must Register with the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy which includes a State and Federal Background check for clearance to participate in experiential and to work in any Pharmaceutical Setting.

PRE-REQUISITES: *SEMN 1000 First Semester Seminar, *MATH 1012 Foundations of Mathematics or MATH 1013, *ENGL 1010 Fundamentals of English, *PSYC 1010 Basic Psychology, *ALHS 1090 Medical Terminology, *COMP 1000 Introduction to Computer Literacy, *ALHS 1040 Introduction to Health Care, *ALHS 1011 Structure and Function of the Human Body. *COMP 1000 Introduction to Computer Literacy and ALHS 1040 Intro to Healthcare Assistant may be taken with first semester PHAR 1000, PHAR 1010.
