Sports and Fitness Management, Associate of Applied Science Degree SAF3
The Sports and Fitness Management program is an application-based course of classes that focus on preparing students for entry to mid-level management positions in the sport fitness profession, as well as qualifies them to sit for a national certification exam for certified health fitness trainers. Program graduates will receive an Associate Degree in Sports and Fitness Management upon completion. The program of study emphasizes opportunities that provide students with specialized knowledge, skills and attitudes required to work in the health and wellness industry. Upon completion of studies, graduates are eligible to obtain certification from a variety of certifying bodies including American Council on Exercise and American College of Sports Medicine.
Program Objectives: The knowledge and skills emphasized in this program include ethical obligations of business management and wellness; basic concepts of health promotion strategies, communication, basic principles of exercise physiology, human anatomy and bio-mechanics. Critical thinking strategies are combined with theoretical knowledge to make decisions which promote and facilitate effective health fitness plans.
Curriculum Outline
