EDUC-3060 Writing Instruction, Process, and Assessment
An introduction to the methods and approaches used to teach writing. Class participants will develop the ability to design writing instruction appropriate to meet the needs of K-12 students and aligned to core standards. Students will be able to model the writing process and assess student writing. Emphasis on learning evidence-based practices to teach oral language activities prior to writing, spelling, handwriting, sentence construction, content-area writing, paragraph organization, and conventions. The course will also include opportunities to use the writing process across genres to improve individual writing skills and provide peer feedback. Participants will demonstrate proficiency in Standard 4 (Writing Process) of the Idaho Comprehensive Literacy Standards. This course is open to any undergraduate student. Formerly EDU-306.
