RD4120 Perspectives in Leadership and Management

Skills and roles of a "manager" versus a "leader" are delineated. Theories of management are reviewed, and the functions, skills and tools of management are explored. Human resource management techniques are introduced, as well as labor relations, law and financial management. Students study program planning, assessment and quality improvement and are introduced to health care systems. The impact of effective leadership on the dietetics profession is discussed, and students assess leadership abilities.
