DANC 202 Hip-hop Dance in Practice
The culture, history, and movement of various styles under the hip-hop dance umbrella, including popping, locking, house, breaking, 90s hip-hop, social line dances, and commercial hip-hop will be examined. The progression of these forms are understood through movement while being informed by time period, culture, and sociopolitical and economic events to better understand the contributions current hip-hop dance techniques have on American culture. Physical participation is required to learn these various styles. No previous dance training is needed. Course is open to any student not majoring in dance.
