SLIN 4942 Interpreting Internship
The Interpreting Internship offers practical experience, allowing students to refine interpreting skills, gain real-world experience, and prepare for entry into the field under the guidance of certified interpreters. Students will apply their knowledge and skills, gaining valuable insights into communication dynamics between Deaf and hearing individuals. The course focuses on integrating professional competencies, ethical decision-making, cultural awareness, and effective communication in various interpreting contexts, including educational, medical, legal, mental health, VRS, and community settings. Successful completion of at least 400 hours is required as part of the internship. This is typically accomplished by completing an average of 30 hours/week across 10-14 weeks.
