The development of dress in the West, from Ancient Egypt to the present. Emphasis on style and silhouette, including textiles, cosmetics, hair dressing, and fashion accessories that created the differing ideals of “beauty." Concentration on the political, social, historical, and economic forces that converged to shape the evolution of Western clothing with special emphasis on race, representation, and appropriation.
