THE 255 MICHAEL CHEKHOV TECHNIQUE

This course invites performing artists from all fields to explore Michael Chekhov’s psychophysical acting technique. Students will train the body, voice, and imagination, and investigate the creative process. Students will engage such tools as Psychological Gesture, Atmosphere, and Qualities of Movement. Students will co-create somatic exercises that help them step into — and out of — the roles they inhabit and the characters they play. Students will choose material suitable to their discipline: dramatic text, song, prose, poetry, movement, etc.
