FRH 416 SPEAKING FRENCH TO POWER

This course delves into the politics of language in colonial and postcolonial Francophone spaces. Through a study of theoretical and literary texts from Africa and the Caribbean, students will investigate concepts and strategies developed by Francophone writers to subvert the French language and use it as a political and ideological means of resistance against colonial and neocolonial power. Course conducted in French.
