ART 216 DRAWING PATTERN PRINT ON CLAY

Drawing, pattern, and the printed image have been used in conjunction with clay since the first human scratched its surface. This class introduces students to various methods of applying or embedding color, image, and text onto clay surfaces and three-dimensional built forms. These include direct drawing, painting, carving, pressing, stencils, transfers, decals, projection, printmaking, and photographic processes. Glaze and other ceramic materials will be used in conjunction with a variety of other media. Historical and contemporary perspectives serve as a framework for investigation in a variety of modes with emphasis on the development of a personal direction or body of work. This course satisfies the 3D requirement for Art Majors.
