PMIN 6372 Intercultural Competencies for Pastoral Ministry

This course explores intercultural competencies by studying culture in general, methodologies in the study of culture and its aspects, the effects of globalization on culture, cultural communication styles, perceptions of power; important terms regarding intercultural competencies, models of intercultural development, racism, and methods of theological/pastoral reflection. The course helps pastoral leaders develop intercultural competencies and respect, suitable for a globalized and intercultural world in which they live, relate, and work. Students develop a better understanding of racism and the systems of power that give privilege to certain cultural groups at the expense of others, both in secular and ecclesial contexts.
