Communication Arts (BA)
The Communication Arts program at UIW uses a unique blend of theory-driven and experienced-based classes where students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful career in today’s changing media world. Communication Arts offers a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and a Master of Arts (MA) as well as an accelerated bachelor's to master's degree program (ABM). With three different concentrations, our graduates are strongly prepared for a vast number or career opportunities, such as social media specialists, broadcast journalists, event planners, filmmakers, public relations specialists, teachers, videographers, bilingual journalists, and marketing & advertising specialists, among others. The goals of the program are to cultivate students’ imagination and creativity through mastery of technical skills needed to become effective professionals in the field of communications: to create an environment fostering the exploration of diverse perspectives and encourages students to use their skills and resources to serve their community and society, so that they are prepared to participate confidently, ethically, and competently as concerned and enlightened citizens.
Major requirements for a Bachelor of Arts:
Students must complete all requirements from section 1 through section 3.
1. Communication Arts Core Courses
The following 43 semester hours of Communication Arts core courses are required for all concentrations:

A. Media and Culture Concentration
Students must complete all requirements from section 1 through section 3. Students are required to complete the 18 hours of Media and Culture courses listed below AND 15 hours of COMM electives or General Electives AND ENGL 2365, Professional and Technical Communication.
B. Multimedia Concentration
Students must complete all requirements from section 1 through section 3. For the Multimedia concentration, students must complete 15 hours of required Multimedia core courses (listed below) AND select a track to pursue (i.e., Production, Journalism, or Creative Publishing), completing 12 hours from the listed COMM courses for that track AND 6 hours of additional COMM electives or General Electives AND ENGL 2365, Professional and Technical Communication.
Production Track
12 semester hours to be chosen from the following courses:

C. Strategic and Corporate Communications Concentration
Students must complete all requirements from section 1 through section 3. Students are required to complete the 18 hours of Strategic and Corporate Communication courses listed below AND 15 hours of COMM electives or General Electives AND ENGL 2365, Professional and Technical Communication.
3. Students shall complete as many electives as required to reach 122 credit hours
