NMED 4120 Global Experience in Nuclear Medicine
This is a one credit hour course that will introduce students to nuclear medicine technology practice and healthcare systems of another country. Students will be exposed to global healthcare systems in general as well as nuclear medicine practice in another country. This is significant to nuclear medicine students because it will allow students to have an increased awareness of nuclear medicine and healthcare around the world. Students tend to think that how it is done here in the United States is how it is done everywhere. This course is designed to open your eyes to the global differences in the field of healthcare and nuclear medicine. As a student, you can share your global perspective in healthcare as well as the practice of nuclear medicine in other countries with other students. As a graduate of the program, you can share your global perspective and first-hand knowledge of information of new procedures with your employers and physicians as procedures become approved for use in the United States. Each year the class will visit a different host country for a unique experience and will address the following topics: Healthcare systems, Radiopharmaceuticals, Nuclear medicine procedures as well as the differences in the scope of practice for nuclear medicine technologists in other countries.
