OCTA 2321 Anatomy and Physiology for Occupational Therapy
This course provides introduction instruction into human anatomy and physiology comprised of lecture and practical laboratory time using models, virtual computer programs and cadavers. This course studies the musculoskeletal and nervous systems of the human body in relationship to movement and occupational performance. Although the entire human organism will be studied, a greater emphasis is placed on the upper extremity and should girdle. This includes identification of bony anatomy structures, interrelationships of systems, cellular/organism physiology, and basic concepts of kinesiology. Students will learn origins, insertions, nerve innervations, actions of muscles, muscle grouping for function, and common problems seen when these systems are affected by disease or injury. This course is for OTA majors only.
