EDSI 2374 Physical Science for Elementary Teachers

This course will examine the content of physical science as well as instructional and assessment procedures for science teaching in EC-6 classrooms.  Physical science concepts will be developed through problem solving and hands-on activities. The course will focus on forces and  motion, physical and chemical properties of and changes in matter, energy and interactions between matter and energy, energy transformations and the conservation of matter and energy, and science pedagogy.  The primary goal of this course is to gain knowledge and skills that will prepare teacher candidates for science teaching.  The course is  the second in the science sequence following biol-1401'>BIOL 1401: Diversity of Life & Lab and preceding edsi-2375'>EDSI 2375: Earth and 
Space Science for Elementary Teachers.
