ARC 473 URBN RENEWAL/AMERICA: NEW LNDN

Urban Renewal in America: New London.  After Word War II, many U.S. cities planned large-scale redevelopment projects. These building campaigns were both creative and destructive. New London was transformed when a stretch of the I-95 highway was built and one of its historic neighborhoods was redeveloped. This course explores the history and legacy of urban renewal, undertaking an in-depth study of its impact on New London in the broader context of the U.S. Students will work with archival sources and explore documenting historical change in cities through digital humanities scholarship.
