IDS 430 DEI Inquiry I
This course is the first course in a two-course sequence (IDS 430 and IDS 431) that provides an opportunity for students to create an individualized plan of study focused on a selected diverse population or diversity area of interest with the supervision of the course instructor. During the two-course sequence, students will successfully plan, develop, and implement a project.
In this course, students will strengthen their critical thinking, information literacy, intersectionality, collaboration, and creative thinking skills by imagining/ creating of a product or process that can benefit the community they’ve chosen. Students begin by identifying an area of interest and the resources needed (in consultation with leaders or organizations in the community); they design resources in response to community need(s) that are based in best practices. At the end of this course, students will have a product that they can actuate in IDS 431 in order to effect positive change.
