HADM 6360 Managing Healthcare Organizations

This course provides students with the management principles needed to lead a healthcare organization. Students are introduced to definitions and concepts about the US Healthcare System. Emphasis is placed on the skills and competencies necessary for effective health services management and the functions performed by, and roles required of, early to mid-level managers. Upon completion of this course, students will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the US Healthcare System to include: its conceptual basis and historic origins; the structures of ambulatory, inpatient, and ancillary care; the role of integrative medicine; the impact of culture/values on health legislation and the shaping of the systems; its similarities/differences with diverse international systems; and the manifestations of cost, quality, and access within the system.

This course is required for students in the Master of Health Administration program. Other students may enroll in this course as an elective.
