Admission of International Students
The University welcomes the applications of international students. An international students is defined as a student that does not hold US citizenship or permanent residency and requires a visa to enter the Unites States. Although a rolling admission policy is in effect, it is recommended that students apply to the University no later than 90 days before the beginning of the semester the student plans to attend. Students are required to purchase U.S. health insurance through the university.
Admission of International Freshman Students
International freshman students must submit the following to the International Admissions Office:
- A signed International Student Application. The application must be signed by the student, not by a parent, guardian or agency. Applications are available online at www.uiw.edu/internationaladmissions.
- Educational Documents - All official high school records and proof of graduation translated into English. These records must include grades and/or scores received. For transcripts received by the University without English translations, the application will be considered incomplete and the translations service/expenses will be the responsibility of the student.
- Proof of English Proficiency.
- Immigration and Financial Requirements.
Admission of International Transfer Students
International transfer students must submit the following to the International Admissions Office:
- A signed International Student Application. The applications must be signed by the students, not by the parent, guardian, or agency. Applications are available online at www.uiw.edu/internationaladmissions.
- Educational Documents - All official university transcripts translated into English. These records must include grades and/or scores received. For transcripts received by the University without English translations, the applications will be considered incomplete and the translation service/expenses will be the responsibility of the student. A course-by-course/detail course foreign credential evaluation and course description in English are required for all foreign transcripts to determine transfer credit eligibility. A list of evaluation agencies is available from the International Admissions Office.
- Applications with fewer than 24 transferable hours of university credits must submits an official high school transcript, translated into English.
- Proof of English Proficiency.
- Immigration and Financial Requirements.
Admission of International Graduate Students
International transfer students must submit the following to the International Admissions Office:
- A signed International Student Application. The application must be signed by the students, not the parent, guardian, or agency. Applications are available at https://www.uiw.edu/admissions/internationaladmissions/.
- Official transcripts from all universities/colleges attended and proof of graduation. All official transcripts must be translated into English before they are submitted.
- For consideration of transfer credit, course descriptions officially translated into English and a detailed course or course-by-course evaluation are required. A list of evaluation agencies is available from the Office of International Admissions.
- Proof of English Proficiency.
- Report of Graduate Record Examination (GRE), Miller Analogies Test (MAT), or the Graduate Management (GMAT) by testing agency at UIW, as designated by specific graduate program.
- Immigration and Financial Requirements.
- Two letters of recommendation.
