MATH 4337 Applications of Chaos Theory
This course investigates chaotic dynamics that describe physical systems, and systems of equations, that are sensitive to initial conditions, where a small change in the system's input can result in unpredictable differences in the output. Topics include iterated function systems, metric spaces, convergence, and fractals. Students will learn to describe dynamical behaviors as periodic, stable, unstable, random, and chaotic, and also learn to analyze and
create series that exhibit these behaviors. Students will find that complicated behaviors do not always come from complicated equations, and the simplest of equations can display amazing complexity and beauty.
