CRIJ 4335 Crisis Preparedness and Response

The main focus of this course is to provide students with knowledge on the measures put in place by the United States government to face sudden crisis. It also examines the government's response to emergency crisis. The course exposes students to the lapses in the security system by analyzing the 9-11 attacks, hurricane Katrina, and other recent minor attacks and emergencies. It emphasizes the role of the first responders, the dangers they face, and how to minimize these dangers. The course also examines the role played by science and technology in the preparation and response to sudden crisis. By the end of the course, students are exposed to the Role of the National Guard in emergency preparation and response.
