VA Educational Benefits

The Military and Veteran Center provides assistance to UIW students utilizing VA Educational Benefits commonly referred to as the GI Bill®. Eligible veterans and dependents can contact the Military and Veteran Center at (210) 832-5651, veterans@uiwtx.edu, or visit in person to start the process. The Military and Veteran Center is located in the Student Engagement Center 3rd Floor, Room 3021 at 4301 Broadway CPO 58 San Antonio, Texas, 78209.

Degree programs described in this bulletin must be approved by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for use with VA Educational Benefits. Students who obtain VA Educational Benefits are responsible for understanding the policies and regulations set by the VA, which are monitored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Texas Veterans Commission, and for notifying the Military and Veteran Center of changes to their enrollment status. The Military and Veteran Center serves as a liaison between the VA and those students at the University of the Incarnate Word utilizing VA Educational Benefits. As a private institution, UIW does not participate in the Hazelwood Act which may only be used at a Texas public institution.
