OPT 6321 Clinical Optometry IV

One and a half hours of lecture and three hours laboratory per week. Emphasis on the comprehensive evaluation and testing of the human visual system. A culmination and integration of all testing and procedures learned in OPT 5411, OPT 5421, and OPT 6411. This includes an emphasis on patient case presentation, integration and analysis of exam findings, proper sequencing, efficiency, and proper documentation of eye examinations. Writing ocular medications and refractive correction prescriptions is also covered. Performing an eye exam using basic/foundational Spanish terminology is introduced. Introduction to glaucoma diagnosis and management to include the classification of the glaucomas and their respective treatment modalities. Introduction to automated nerve head and nerve fiber layer analysis in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma and other optic neuropathies.
