INDR 8359 Mixed Methods

This course is an introduction to Mixed Methods Research (MMR). Participants will learn how qualitative and quantitative data can be integrated to capture the perspectives from various perspectives (including organizational/systems “perspectives") in order to answer complex research questions. Course content will include formulating research questions, collecting and analyzing different types of data, choosing the appropriate mixed methods (canonical) designs, and interpreting mixed method research results. Students will explore the strengths and weaknesses of qualitative and quantitative research methods with regard to particular research problems and thus advantages and disadvantages of mixed and mixing designs (e.g. sequential explanatory; sequential exploratory; sequential transformative; concurrent triangulation; concurrent nested; and concurrent transformative).
