The Cybersecurity and Information Assurance Certificate is designed to provide students with foundational and advanced knowledge and experience with technical security practices and information assurance policies in order to obtain positions as Cybersecurity analysts, specialists, engineers, technical security support personnel, and managers. Coursework will prepare students and current Information Technology (IT) practitioners with experience for Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) / Certified Information Systems Security Practitioner (CISSP) / System Administration, Networking, and Security Institute (SANS) or the International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants (EC-Council) certification exams.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Cybersecurity and Information Assurance Certificate, the graduate will be able to:
  1. Describe hardware and software components of client computers, servers and networks in order to identify their areas of vulnerability.
  2. Design and implement secure networks that protects users and data from unauthorized access.
  3. Identify, assess and remediate vulnerabilities to practice on-going network maintenance and monitoring.
  4. Design and deploy layered defense mechanisms to protect a complex network.
  5. Apply forensics techniques to computers and wired and wireless networks.
  6. Develop information assurance polices and practices to protect information within an organization.
