PSY 207 Health Psychology #

Theory and research on the relationship between physical health, behavior, and cognitive processes, and  emphasizes the biopsychosocial factors related to the maintenance of health and the prevention and treatment of illness. Incorporates the impact of personal lifestyle on physical health, the interpersonal processes involved in providing health care, self-efficacy, and the emerging role of behavioral medicine in health care. Topics include:  injury, stress, coping, pain management, addictions, adherence, patient-physician relationships, death, grief, and chronic illnesses, such as Alzheimer's, diabetes, cancer, chronic lung and heart disease, and AIDS.
