THR 10100 Acting I

This is an introductory course, which explores the actor’s instrument (body), function, and responsibilities. A variety of historical acting techniques and processes are explored. The student learns to work from a point of concentration, develop relaxation, and pursue an objective through physical and psychological action. A scripted monologue is used with an emphasis on receiving and sending a clear and spontaneous intention that is believable. The course culminates in a performance demonstration.
