CFS 16000 Television and American Culture
Television is a multifaceted and complex medium in American culture. There are many facets to television that will be explored in this course: commercial industry, democratic institution, textual form, and site of cultural representation, as a part of everyday life and as a technological medium. Students will explore the role of television in American culture from the classical network era through the modern era focusing on how television and American culture has been transformed.
