EXS 20110 Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries
A focus on the research, current guidelines, practical application of evidence-based sports related injuries and illnesses. Exploring the roles and responsibilities of the athletic trainer, the current incidences of sports injuries as well as present and future challenges for preventing, caring for and reconditioning those injuries. Lecture and practical experiences will include the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Also included are a review of anatomy, biomechanical movement patterns of the joints, taping/bandaging techniques, tissue response to injury, and therapeutic modalities and therapeutic exercise.
