SPE 20700 Communication Disabilities in Film

Ready, set, Action!  Hollywood films depict characters that have a variety of communication disabilities such as, Autism, Fluency disorders, and Dementia to name a few. These depictions impact the way society views individuals with Communication disorders.  Students investigate the etiology and diagnosis of Communication disorders. Using the scientific method, students question the accuracy of the portrayal of the disorder, as well as, utilize research methods to confirm or disprove the validity of the depicted communicative disability.
