HPS 201 Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries

This course focuses on the research, current guidelines, the practical application of evidence-based sports related injuries and illnesses. Students will explore the roles and responsibilities of the athletic trainer, the current incidences of sports injuries as well as present and future challenges for preventing, caring for and reconditioning those injuries. Lecture and practical experiences will include the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Topics will also include sports nutrition, sports conditioning, sports psychology, taping/bandaging technology ices, tissue response to injury, and therapeutic modalities and therapeutic exercise.
