HIS 207 African American History
Spanning the broad sweep of 400 years from 1619-present, this course presents an overview of African American history. Topics include the Trans-Atlantic slave trade and spread of slavery in the United States, abolitionism and the Civil War, Reconstruction and the rise of Jim Crow, the Civil Rights and Black Power Movements, and the present era. Thematically, this course covers population movements and demographic shifts, the role of religion in African American life, and Black culture.
