Calendars and Meetings
Various employee-wide and faculty-wide meetings are scheduled during the academic year. Academic schools and departments will have regularly scheduled meetings organized and announced by deans, directors, or chairs. Faculty committees will have regularly scheduled meetings for collaboration and completion of committee work. Faculty members are expected to add all such scheduled meetings to their calendars, arranging other obligations whenever possible to attend and not accepting engagements that would conflict. Previous arrangements must be made with deans, directors, or department/committee chairs for anticipated absences.
Faculty members are strongly encouraged to make use of the calendar associated with their RCU-issued email account (Google Calendar) as their professional method of calendar management, as this enables campus personnel to more reliably ascertain a person’s availability when scheduling meetings.
Faculty members are expected to respond to Google Calendar meeting invitations initiated by others promptly, as a courteous way to let meeting organizers know who to expect in attendance. Declining a Google Calendar invitation is not a replacement for the aforementioned need to communicate with deans, directors, or chairs regarding absences from required meetings.
