DEH 1002 Dental Hygiene I

This is a pre-clinical course designed to provide the foundation for the clinical practice of dental hygiene. The role of the dental hygienist, professional relationships and communication skills are emphasized. Students are provided with the concept of principles of asepsis, sterilization techniques, obtaining medical/dental histories, medical and dental emergencies, the pathology of plaque and stain, effective plaque control programs, comprehensive dental charting, periodontal screening record and comprehensive periodontal charting.
