GEO 345 Mineralogy and Petrology

This course is a systematic exploration of the important minerals and rocks that comprise the solid earth. Course work will focus on the materials and processes involved in the formation of igneous and metamorphic rocks globally and seen in spectacular local examples. Students will engage in the study of rocks and minerals through analysis of specimens, microscopy, experimental and geochemical datasets, and fieldwork.
