ENGL 274 Women Writers

This course will focus on the intersections among race, gender, sexuality and culture in 19th, 20th and 21st century novels within three different cultural traditions: African American, Anglo American, and Native American.  African American women writers include Harriet Jacobs, Nella Larsen, Zora Neale Hurston, and Toni Morrison.  Native American women writers include Louise Erdrich and Leslie Marmon Silko.  Anglo American women writers include George Eliot, Kate Chopin, and Virginia Woolf.
