COMP 239 Computer Organization

This course covers the basics of how a computer works. Much of Computer Science concerns the implementation of a computer, such as: assembly languages, the memory hierarchy, and parallel processing. Students will learn how the seemingly arbitrary theories are, in fact, grounded in the limitations of the physical computer, and that it may not be possible to ignore this lower-level hardware when designing efficient software. This is a required course for the Computer Science major.
