ACE-6302 INTEGRATIVE SPORTS & ORTHOPEDIC EMPHASIS CLINICAL INTERNSHIP 2
The primary objective of this course is for students to learn and apply the advancing concepts and skills necessary for a broad-based conservative and integrative care provider. This includes assessing and managing the care of high performance athletes that are contracted with the NWHSU HPC. Students will improve their skills of obtaining a history specific to the high performance athletes, as well as examination skills. Skills covered in the internship will also include, but are not limited to, inspection, joint and soft tissue palpation, range of motion, orthopedic evaluation, neurological examinations, drafting treatment plans, applying various physiologic modalities, developing and implementing therapeutic exercise programs, and other assessments/interventions consistent with your discipline of care. Working collaboratively with other disciplines is a keystone objective. Each intern will have the opportunity to discuss management plans that extend beyond their discipline(s). This course will build-on and further integrate the basic concepts in (i) preventative medicine, (ii) nutritional foundations of healing, (iii) soft tissue management, and (iv) joint care.
