MTEL-1610 INTRODUCTION TO CHINESE MEDICINE AND CUPPING
This class is an introduction to Traditional Chinese Medical theory and modalities, specific to the use of massage therapists. Specific areas of study include; Zang/Fu meridian organ theory, the fundamental substances of Traditional Chinese Medicine, cupping, Tui Na, and acupressure. Required reading and quizzes are assigned outside of class and lab time in order to obtain an introduction to Traditional Chinese Medical theory. Class case studies and labs synthesize Traditional Chinese Medical theory and modalities. Observation and practice of modalities are required during the laboratory experience. Special attention is paid to safety during cupping and gua sha protocols.
