OM4431 Contested Logistics Planning

Students will lead the development of logistics data and information regarding force deployment and sustainment to provide the documentation necessary to support an operational level logistics planning exercise for the Asia-Pacific region. Upon completion of the course,

  • Logistics students will develop skills as a J24 for a JTF operating in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Intelligence students to develop skills as a J42 for a JTF operating in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Information operations students will learn the challenges and capabilities of U.S. logistics forces that might be involved in contested logistics overseas.
  • All students, in cooperation, will develop a draft Annex D and TPFDD for a notional OPORD relating to a large-scale U.S. military operation in the Asia-Pacific region.

In addition, all students will familiarize themselves with

  • U.S. force deployment capabilities and limitations.
  • Deployment and sustainment capabilities and limitations of allies and partners in the Asia-Pacific region.

Course Learning Outcomes

  • Collect, compile and analyze the factors of space, time, forces and human decision-making terrain that pertain to the creation of ad hoc supply chains and deployment and sustainment plans in support of a major overseas combat operation.
  • Synthesize and describe the details of alternative deployment and sustainment plans and new supply chains that will feasibly support a major overseas combat operation.
  • Predict and evaluate the performance of proposed alternative logistics courses of action in support of a major overseas combat operation.
  • Evaluate and predict the likely influence(s) that a proposed logistics course of action will have on adversary decision makers and other important target audiences.
