Military Science Minor Requirements

Enrolled students may pursue a minor in military science by completing the following courses:

Required:

MS 339: Requires prior approval/permission by the department chair. Also required to commission as a 2nd Lieutenant.

Six to eight credit hours from the following MS courses:

Placement credit for these courses may be given to veterans, graduates of the college level ROTC summer programs and participants in high school level ROTC programs.

The following criteria must be met by all students in order to minor in military science:

  1. Acceptance into the advanced course.
  2. A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better.
  3. A GPA of 2.0 or better in the major field or area of concentration.
  4. A GPA of 3.0 or better in military science.

The above standards may be waived, providing the cadet has a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or better, with the approval of a board consisting of the Professor of Military Science, the Dean of the Caudill College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and a MS IV cadet who has the rank of cadet major or above.
