BIOL 603 History and Philosophy of Biology

History and development of biological philosophy and knowledge from early civilization to the mid-20th century. History of anatomy, physiology, medicine, embryology, zoology, botany, microbiology, genetics and evolution will be covered, as well as the role of technology, museums, biological literature and early world exploration on the field of biological sciences. Emphasis will be on the development of biological paradigms. Student discussion and presentations required.
