Sociology – Master of Arts: General Sociology Concentration

Program Requirements

Students electing this concentration must complete one of the following plans:

PLAN A (30 hours)

1. Completion of a minimum of 24 credit hours of approved graduate work in sociology.

At least 15 hours of the sociology credit must be earned in courses at the 600-level. Coursework must include:

SOC 615	Sociological Research	3
SOC 650	Social Thought and Theory	3

2. Completion of an approved thesis (six hours).

Total Credit Hours:		30

PLAN B (36 hours)

1. Completion of a minimum of 36 credit hours of approved course work in sociology.

At least 18 hours of sociology credit must be earned in courses at the 600-level (three hours of independent study or independent research may be taken as part of the 18 hours at the 600-level). Coursework must include:

SOC 650	Social Thought and Theory	3

2. Complete a written comprehensive examination.
