MUA 4489 VOCAL POP GRP/QUINTESSENTIALS
The Quintessentials, Manhattanville's elite pop vocal ensemble, represent "the best of Manhattanville" at highly visible events and venues. The group sings in intricate close harmony, both a cappella and accompanied, and most numbers involve staging/choreography. Performance opportunities include Student/ Faculty events, Admissions Office Open Houses, Cabaret Workshop Performances, Off-campus Fundraising events, Off-Campus Community Service events, and Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremonies, where we traditionally sing the National Anthem and the Alma Mater. Students work with music/theatre professionals in as close to a professional atmosphere as possible. In addition to giving excellent performances, students are expected to develop professional discipline and rehearsal habits, and to be knowledgeable regarding the material they perform (composers, lyricists, arrangers, historical context, etc.) By Audition Only.
