NUR 5020 Nursing Research for Advanced Nursing

This course provides a critical knowledge base in the core principles of evidence based practice. Students will learn how to find specific evidence, how to appraise and analyze the evidence and then communicate the evidence in a scholarly way utilizing papers, and presentations. Students will use their skills to identify a specific health care related issue, then find and apply the most current evidence that identifies the needs while supporting the solution to that issue. This class provides the foundational skills necessary to find and use evidence to support individual practice, and appropriately apply evidence to different population based settings. (This is an 8-week course. In addition to the three hours of online classroom activities, students should expect to spend at least 6 hours of homework preparation for weekly in course discussions, peer interaction, blogs, review of weekly narrated, reading, paper & PowerPoints Presentations. Each discussion positing and/or blog update is equivalent to ½ hour of classroom activity according to Carnegie unit calculations.)
